For Unto Us...

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savoir has been born to you: he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

~Luke 2:10-14

New Christmas Stockings

Yesterday at the thrift store I found a canvas shower curtain (which was purchased for another project, more on that later) that I knew I needed. After getting home I kept having visions of Christmas stockings... I didn't like my dollar store stockings from a few years ago!! :) So after a few hours of trying to resist the stocking visions, I succumbed to the whimsy of whipping up a few. I used the canvas and traced out the stockings. Then decided to dress them up with a little Christmas cheer. I drew little embellishments out with pencil (so it would wash away). I did four designs because that is all that are left at home. Here they are...

A Christmas tree in a pot.
A fluffy snowman!

A cute little raindeer!

And last but not least, a Christmas Wreath!

For now (mostly to get a picture) they hang on my book case.

Simple Wisdom

"I mean that sometimes, at first reading, the Bible does seem like a jumble of unrelated writings, especially to an unbeliever. But if you believe it is the Word of God, and so have patience to go on and learn how to divide it and put it together, you soon see that each part fits into the rest without discord or contradiction and the whole presents a perfect portrait."

French Toast

Warm and cozy eating...
Here is the back story...
I thought I would be a wonderful mother for my two cute kids. I got up a little earlier and made french toast, and delicious sausage for an extra warm breakfast. Yet my two stinkers slept and slept and slept until around 9:30. Later when I rounded the corner what did I find the cute kid doing??? Eating from the can of pringles...
Lets just say: It's a darn good thing I love those two!! :)
The breakfast was at last enjoyed by all!

All dressed up...

I love sewing baskets!! I found this one for .75 at the thrift store. But it was a little plain, it needed to be beautified like my other vintage basket. So for now it is being adorned with a lovely holiday pick. For now I love it, and it's a great addition to my teeny tiny collection.
All topped off...
What do you think? Mom, I must figure out how they did the decor on my (your) basket. Stiff fabric or something...

One little fish

Remembering to pack the important things...
Socks, t-shirts, uniforms the list goes on and on. But one must always remember to pack the mascot. This tiny fish made one trip to Iraq and is now on his second deployment. Sara my oldest gave this to her daddy when he left a few years ago.

Isn't it funny, how in life, it's always the little things that count the most.

Jam

Every year my grandma made Jam, but not just any Jam~ Raspberry Jam from berries grown in Canada. (She would stow away redman tobacco ( from the U.S. )and trade it for huge fat berries). Gotta love her. So I decided to give it a try. I think I had it a little easier, because I purchased my berries locally (Sorry Redman~no trades for you). I got out the old Fanny Farmer Cookbook... And whipped up a few jars... The result, kinda grainy not at all like grandmas. I don't know what I did wrong, but will try again next year. I feel some what ashamed... I got four jars. Grandma about 60. Berries you beat me this year, but wait till next year!!

Toasty toes!!

I finished up some knitting today. Who can resist soft and cozy yarn? I know I can't!! ( I am also working on a blanket for the baby~the green project)Hopefully these will keep Benjamin's toes warm this winter. My daughter is expecting her 2ed child in early November. But the baby seems to think different. He must be like his big sister who was over a month early also. Please pray that the Lord will have his hand covering them, and that all will be well.

One thing is true...

This girl loves her dad!!! We were at an award ceremony for her choir this weekend. The cute guy had to work, fortunately it was at an event on the other side of the park. He was so sweet to pop in to see her. It always makes her smile. Me too.

I love washing delicate garments, I don't know why. Well I truly find it relaxing. So today I chose to indulge myself in a little luxury...

Sew Pretty

An up-cycled linen dress, and sweet vintage pillow case found a new purpose. They are no longer lingering in the bins of the local thrift store, but are ready for the farmers market.
My new market bag... I loved this pillow case, the perfect adornment for lining the simple linen.
